That word was key to the comprehension of the poem for them and it led to a great discussion about the meaning of the poem. Your alphabet hike is helping us to build vocabulary and understanding that we usually don't discuss.Judyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12898638538265096282noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6343349006357324362.post-57296280103799614042012-04-23T21:03:16.815-04:002012-04-23T21:03:16.815-04:00I know it's silly, but I did once camp in teep...I know it's silly, but I did once camp in teepees with my middle school students & they were rocking with laughter over "don't go pee pee in the teepees". My partner/trip leader & I were trying to give a talk about bathrooms & where they were, etc. Leave it to this age, no matter how old they think they are, to revert to bathroom humor quickly (I think to hide the embarrassment of talking about it.) Anyway, Amy, I love your sweet poem about bedtime in a teepee, can just imagine this as a little lullaby. Thanks! I read it as a gentle lullaby and wish that it had it's own little tune.

-NatalieNataliehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03398254629932536661noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6343349006357324362.post-16332822445708957552012-04-23T07:15:39.821-04:002012-04-23T07:15:39.821-04:00Hi Amy! I decided to write my haiku before reading your poem this morning, and I think it is neat that we both imagined the teepee as someplace cozy, (and used the rhyme with "sleepy.") A teepee is never creepy.

My Place

I love my teepee
My place to dream, sing, write, pray,
sleep when I'm sleepy.Poem of the Week - Lisa Vihoshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01437291789999751899noreply@blogger.com
