Welcome to my 2020 National Poetry Month Project

Each day of April 2020, I will share three things:
  • A dice roll of three word dice
  • A video explaining one poetic technique titled POEMS CAN... You can also find these at Sharing Our Notebooks as part of my ongoing Keeping a Notebook project
  • A poem inspired by one or more of the dice words and the technique

  2. You have entered April with your customary verve and vitality for verse Amy. I like your month long exploration of poetry's breadth of possibilities. it is like peeling an onion. Your efforts alert others to a broader perspective of poetry's immense power to impact. Thank you for hosting and best wishes for the remainder of April and all it offers to poetry lovers.

  5. Amy, I have admired your rolling of the dice and poem making videos. Thank you for what you do for our young people. Your voice and presence in Betsy effuses joy and security. Today, I'm celebrating a Gotcha Day! And, we are getting ready for Easter. On my blog, I'm asking fellow poets to answer some interview questions as a chance to reflect as poets--and they are the same questions I've asked of poet Vikram Madan as I'll be reviewing his book next week. Thanks for the love, Amy. We feel it out here in our homes every day!

  9. Good morning, Amy--I say again how inviting I'm finding your dice project, and how delicious they look arranged on Betsy's formica table. Thanks for all that you are doing to put gifts out into the world at this "roll the dice" kind of time.

  13. Thanks for hosting today, Amy. That little mouse is adorable (though we aren't so fond of the voles tunneling under our yard right now). I'm glad it decided that life is a gift.

  15. I am so with Mrs. Wyman. I am so looking forward each day to seeing you, seeing Betsy, finding out about Little Mouse, and reading your poem. Your notebook explanations and sharing is so helpful for young and older writers alike. Such a delight to think of life as a gift and this weekend, this day, this time, makes us so sure of that fact despite all the trials and tribulations. Big hugs to you. Janet Clare F.

  23. Hi Amy - I see Taylor Mali's Metaphor Dice in your "Roll the Dice" picture. But where did you get the other word dice from? I'd love to find some for my classroom, too. This is such a great idea - thank you for the inspiration!

  30. Thank you so much. This month we are teaching about poems and writing poems as part of our writing program at school. It has been such an inspiration for students when I shared your posts and the saw how you write a poem after rolling the dice with taking notes... let alone how adding your tips to my mini lessons have encouraged kids to start writing poems. Thank you! Leyla51@yahoo.com

  31. Gah! I didn't leave a message write away on Friday morning because I wanted to wait for your poem and video, and then it took me until Tuesday to get back here??? Thank you for hosting Poetry Friday this week, Amy, and for another installment in Little Mouse's adventures in life, learning, and poetry. I think she's going to need her own poetry collection one day. :) I like how she wiggles her whiskers as she thinks about big questions. I like how she observes the world around her before coming to the conclusion that life is a gift.
